Ruyi Peak

Ruyi Peak

Ruyi Peak Scenic Area, located in Gaotian Town, Yangshuo County, Guilin, is a iconic karst landscape destination renowned for its "sky-high" panoramic views and cultural symbolism. The peak derives its name from the resemblance of its ridgeline to the traditional Chinese "Ruyi" scepter—a symbol of good fortune and fulfillment. As Guangxi’s premier aerial tourist attraction, it features a 2,012-meter cable car system, a 142.4-meter suspension bridge, a 360° observation platform, and glass walkways, offering unparalleled vistas of Yangshuo’s thousand-peak landscape. Designated a 5A national tourist spot, it harmonizes natural grandeur with modern engineering, attracting millions annually.

Historical Overview
Construction began in 2017, with the scenic area officially opening in January 2020. Developed by Shaanxi Junjing Ropeway and Guilin Ruisheng Tourism, it transformed a former quarry site into an ecological marvel. The peak’s cultural significance traces back to ancient times—its “Ruyi” shape symbolizes harmony between heaven and earth, while nearby karst caves house Tang Dynasty relics. Historically, it served as a spiritual site for local Zhuang and Yao ethnic groups, who integrated frog, water buffalo, and phoenix motifs into rituals for prosperity. Today, it merges geological heritage with immersive experiences like digital art galleries showcasing Guilin’s folklore.

Structural Layout
The complex follows a north-south axis divided into three zones:

  • Scenic Core: Ruyi Cableway (2,012 m length, 241 m drop), Ruyi Suspension Bridge (142.4 m bridge with 58 m drop), and Ruyi Cloud Top (360° viewing platform at 32 m elevation).
  • Nature Integration: Forest trails, glass plank roads, and eco-friendly public restrooms blend with native vegetation.
  • Cultural Hub: Includes the Sing & Tour Guilin Experience Hall (digital folklore theater) and ancestral halls displaying Ming-era stone carvings. Key structures include the Yuanbao Peak Cableway Station and Xingtianle Tourist Town for visitor services.

Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

As a solo traveler from Canada, I was nervous about navigating China alone—but this 11-day tour was PERFECT! From hiking the Great Wall at sunrise (Day 3) to gasping at the Terracotta Army (Day 5), every day delivered ‘pinch-me’ moments. The real showstopper? Zhangjiajie’s Avatar Mountains (Day 7)! Our guide made the stone pillars come alive with stories. Massive thanks for handling all logistics—bullet train tickets, entry passes, car! And the 4-star hotels surprised me.

Our 2-day Zhangjiajie tour was beyond spectacular! As someone who’s visited Beijing and Shanghai for work, this trip revealed China’s wild, magical heart. Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal! The night views of stilt houses glowing over the river were straight from a fairy tale. For fellow Avatar lovers and adventure seekers: Don’t miss this bucket-list experience! 10/10 would return.
