I am going for a business meeting in Changchun for 5 days. Can I go visa free
Hi
I am going from Stockholm to Beijing/Changchun and back the same way and will stay in China from Monday to Friday the same week. Do I need a visa or can I go visa free.

Noah, it is essential to clarify the requirements of China's 240-hour visa-free transit policy. This regulation mandates that your entry point to and exit point from mainland China must be located in two distinct countries or eligible administrative regions (specifically Hong Kong, Macau, or Taiwan). As currently planned, your itinerary involves arriving in and departing from China via the same country (Sweden), which legally constitutes a round-trip journey rather than a qualifying transit. To meet the criteria, you could adjust your travel plan by, for example, entering China from Stockholm and exiting to a different country such as Denmark.
Additionally, there is a jurisdictional limitation: the 240-hour visa-free transit does not permit access to Jilin Province, including Changchun City, under this visa exemption framework. Even with a compliant transit itinerary, this geographic restriction would preclude execution of your original travel plans.
As a Swedish citizen, the only viable solution to fulfill both your itinerary requirements and destination plans is to secure a valid Chinese visa in advance. While this adjustment to your travel preparations is regrettable, this information ensures clarity regarding regulatory compliance and the necessary procedural steps.
