Gulangyu Island--Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street--Baishi Seafood Market

4-star Hotel

Breakfast

After breakfast, we'll start our exploration with the famous Gulangyu Island. It is a small island located just off the coast of Xiamen and is renowned for its well-preserved colonial-era architecture, beautiful beaches, and charming alleys. There are no vehicles allowed on the island, creating a peaceful and idyllic environment. As you wander along the narrow streets, you'll be greeted by various Western-style buildings that date back to the early 20th century, which were once the residences of foreign consulates and wealthy merchants. The island is also dotted with numerous historical sites such as the Shuzhuang Garden, which combines natural landscapes with delicate garden designs, and the Piano Museum that houses a remarkable collection of pianos from different eras and countries. Spend a few hours here, soaking up the unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty.

Connected to the ferry terminal that takes you to and from Gulangyu Island, Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street is a bustling commercial area filled with a wide variety of shops, restaurants, and local vendors. The street features a unique blend of traditional and modern architecture, with its  arcaded buildings providing shade and a distinctive look. Here, you can shop for souvenirs, try on local handicrafts, or sample some delicious street food. It's a great place to experience the vibrant local life and immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere of Xiamen.

Known as the "Eight Markets" among the locals, Baishi Seafood Market is a must-visit for seafood lovers. This bustling market is filled with fresh catches of the day, from various kinds of fish, shrimp, crabs to shellfish. You can see the fishermen unloading their hauls and the vendors busy arranging their stalls. Besides just looking at the colorful array of seafood, you can also choose some ingredients and have them cooked on the spot at the small restaurants nearby. It's a truly authentic experience to enjoy the freshest seafood while mingling with the locals in this lively market.

Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

As a solo traveler from Canada, I was nervous about navigating China alone—but this 11-day tour was PERFECT! From hiking the Great Wall at sunrise (Day 3) to gasping at the Terracotta Army (Day 5), every day delivered ‘pinch-me’ moments. The real showstopper? Zhangjiajie’s Avatar Mountains (Day 7)! Our guide made the stone pillars come alive with stories. Massive thanks for handling all logistics—bullet train tickets, entry passes, car! And the 4-star hotels surprised me.

Our 2-day Zhangjiajie tour was beyond spectacular! As someone who’s visited Beijing and Shanghai for work, this trip revealed China’s wild, magical heart. Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal! The night views of stilt houses glowing over the river were straight from a fairy tale. For fellow Avatar lovers and adventure seekers: Don’t miss this bucket-list experience! 10/10 would return.
