- Hotel: 4+ star hotels
- Meals: Breakfast
Today you’ll come face-to-face with the world’s largest stone Buddha – the Leshan Giant Buddha, carved into a cliff over 1,200 years ago. Take the mountain trail that winds around the Buddha’s head, shoulders, and down to his giant feet. You’ll feel tiny next to his serene 71-meter-tall figure, with the roaring river below.
After a local lunch, drive to Mount Emei (about 40 minutes), one of China’s four sacred Buddhist mountains. Settle into your hotel near Baoguo Temple, the largest and oldest temple at the mountain’s base. In the evening, wander the temple grounds and listen to the monks’ evening chants – a peaceful end to the day.
