Guanque Tower
Guanque Tower (Guanquelou), located in Yongji City, Shanxi Province, is one of China’s most iconic cultural landmarks. Originally constructed in 557 CE during the Northern Zhou Dynasty, the tower stands 73.9 meters tall today after its 1997 reconstruction. Renowned for inspiring Tang Dynasty poet Wang Zhihuan’s "On the Stork Tower" , it symbolizes the fusion of natural grandeur and literary legacy. Designated a national AAAA-level scenic area in 2002, the site combines Tang Dynasty architectural aesthetics with wetland ecosystems along the Yellow River.

- Tang Dynasty Golden Age (7th–10th centuries): Became a cultural hub, with poets like Wang Zhihuan composing verses here.
- Ming-Qing Decline (14th–19th centuries): Destroyed by floods and wars; only ruins remained by the Qing Dynasty.
- Modern Revival (20th–21st centuries): Rebuilt in 1997 using traditional techniques, now a UNESCO-recognized "living architectural museum."
