Fenjiezhou Island Tourist Area

Fenjiezhou Island Tourist Area

Fenjiezhou Island, located southeast of Hainan Island in Lingshui Li Autonomous County, is a 5A-level scenic spot renowned for its unique geographical features and rich marine resources. Shaped like a saddle, the island spans 0.41 square kilometers and rises 99 meters above sea level. Designated a national marine ecology reserve, it offers visitors a blend of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and adventure activities. The island's strategic location at the climate boundary of Hainan creates distinct weather patterns, often showcasing the phenomenon of "rain at the cow's head, sunshine at its tail" across the nearby Niuling Mountain range.

Historical Overview
Fenjiezhou Island has been a significant geographical and cultural landmark since ancient times. Historically, it served as the boundary between the Han Chinese regions in the north and the Li and Miao Ethnic Minority areas in the south. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, the island was a strategic point for maritime trade and later became a pirate stronghold before being pacified by imperial forces. In 2004, the island was developed into a tourism zone, earning its 5A rating in 2013 as China's first island-type national scenic area. Recent developments include the 2025 addition of new ferry routes and upgraded visitor facilities to enhance accessibility and sustainability.

Structural Layout
The island is divided into three functional zones:

  • Harbor Service Zone: Includes the main ferry terminal, visitor center, and dining facilities.
  • Cultural & Historical Zone: Features the Niuling Mountain boundary stone, ancient Li village ruins, and the "Double-Faced Stone" sculpture symbolizing ethnic unity.
  • Adventure & Leisure Zone: Encompasses diving sites, the Ocean Theater, and the Glass Sea observation area.

Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

As a solo traveler from Canada, I was nervous about navigating China alone—but this 11-day tour was PERFECT! From hiking the Great Wall at sunrise (Day 3) to gasping at the Terracotta Army (Day 5), every day delivered ‘pinch-me’ moments. The real showstopper? Zhangjiajie’s Avatar Mountains (Day 7)! Our guide made the stone pillars come alive with stories. Massive thanks for handling all logistics—bullet train tickets, entry passes, car! And the 4-star hotels surprised me.

Our 2-day Zhangjiajie tour was beyond spectacular! As someone who’s visited Beijing and Shanghai for work, this trip revealed China’s wild, magical heart. Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal! The night views of stilt houses glowing over the river were straight from a fairy tale. For fellow Avatar lovers and adventure seekers: Don’t miss this bucket-list experience! 10/10 would return.
