Origins:A Polar Dream in the Heart of the"Ice City"

A Polar Legend—A"World-Class"Icon for Northeast China

The story of Harbin Polarland stems from a city's profound passion for ice and snow.As the"Ice City,"Harbin boasts a deep cultural heritage rooted in ice and snow;however,in the realm of polar wildlife,it long lacked a dedicated sanctuary capable of embodying its polar dreams.Harbin Polarland was thus born, backed by a total investment of one billion RMB.It stands as one of China's few truly original tourist attractions, with its venue architecture, master planning, and product concepts—including creative design and R&D—all developed entirely by its own in-house team.

It is far more than just a polar aquarium;it serves as a world-class tourism icon crafted by Heilongjiang Province. Here, the extraordinary wonders from the two ends of the Earth—otherwise nearly inaccessible—converge in one place.Within a single day,you can encounter rare polar animals such as beluga whales, polar bears, seals, and Arctic wolves from the North Pole,as well as penguins from the South Pole. You can also cross paths with rare terrestrial creatures, including African lions, capybaras, and ring-tailed lemurs.

The Ultimate"Cute Star"—The Nationally Famous"Taoxue Penguin"

When mentioning Harbin Polarland,it is impossible not to bring up the"Taoxue Penguin"—the adorable little bird sporting a tiny backpack that has captured the hearts of the entire nation. As the undisputed"star attraction"of Heilongjiang’s ice and snow tourism scene, this penguin has cultivated a unique persona:that of a student"attending classes"at Harbin’s major universities, while also"checking in"at famous landmarks such as St.Sophia Cathedral,Central Street, and the Harbin Ice and Snow World. Its appearance has not only melted the hearts of countless visitors but has also propelled the Harbin Polarland into the ranks of nationally renowned family-friendly travel destinations. In response to this popularity, the park has even constructed a dedicated"Studious Penguin Pavilion,"allowing visitors to get up close and personal with this internet sensation.

A Visual Miracle—The World’s Only"Symbiotic Romance"Between Humans and Beluga Whales

The true natural wonder of Harbin Polarland lies not in mountains or rivers, but in a romantic epic—the underwater dance shared between humans and animals.

The Beluga Show:"Heart of the Ocean"—A Globally Unique Underwater Romance

This is the very soul of Harbin Polarland—the ultimate reason why countless visitors flock here from far and wide.Within the massive underwater beluga theater, two Arctic beluga whales—"Mira"and"Nikola"—perform in perfect harmony with their trainers, gliding, spinning, and sharing kisses amidst the azure waters.Their performance culminates in a breathtaking moment where their bodies intertwine to form a giant heart shape. This scene, known as the"Heart of the Ocean,"is a globally unique beluga performance, hailed as"the world’s only symbiotic romance between humans and beluga whales."As the melodious music begins to play, the belugas and their trainers—resembling angels of the sea—enact a miraculous testament to the harmony between humanity and nature. Many visitors have described the performance as"stunningly beautiful and deeply moving"—a true"must-see show of a lifetime."

>Performance Tips:The Beluga Show runs at fixed times daily(typically starting at 10:30 AM).Due to the immense popularity and large crowds,it is highly recommended that you enter the theater at least 30–40 minutes in advance to secure front-row seats. If you prefer a more spectacular underwater perspective, head directly to the underwater viewing windows on the first floor to claim your spot.Dolphin Show:An Ocean Party in the Fairytale Kingdom

If the Beluga Whale Show is romantic, then the Dolphin Show is pure joy. Here, intelligent and agile dolphins join forces with trainers and acrobats to stage a spectacular fairytale drama. The dolphins leap high out of the water, swim at lightning speeds, wave"hello"with their tails, and even"sing."The performance is interspersed with segments featuring high-altitude acrobatics, mermaid performances, and sea lion patrols—creating an audiovisual feast that seamlessly blends animal performances with stage artistry. To secure the best vantage points, many visitors begin lining up outside the theater as early as an hour before the show starts.

Glacier&Aurora Show:Stepping Through the Gateway to Arctic Fantasy

Upon entering the Polar Pavilion, you are greeted by a stunning sensory experience.Through high-tech light and shadow projection, the walls come alive with a dazzling"Aurora Borealis"effect;accompanied by dynamic music and dance performances, the scene makes you feel as though you have been instantly transported to a fantastical world within the Arctic Circle. This serves as the perfect prelude before venturing deeper into the Polar Kingdom.

Human Ingenuity&Craftsmanship—Polar Animal City and Interactive Science Education

Polar Glaciers&Arctic Animal Village:The"Furry Friends"from the North

This area is home to the"native inhabitants"of the Arctic:the world's first cloned Arctic wolf and her beagle surrogate mother,Arctic foxes from Finland(whose coats turn pure white in winter and shift to grayish-black in summer),Arctic wolves, and more. You can observe the habits and behaviors of these rare animals up close, gaining a firsthand sense of the vibrant life that thrives within the Arctic Circle.

Antarctic Penguin Island:The Viral"School-Going Penguins"with Backpacks

This is the home of the African Penguin(also known as the Jackass Penguin). These birds are relatively small in stature yet incredibly lively.During the daily scheduled"Penguin Parade,"these little fellows waddle out wearing tiny backpacks—a charmingly comical sight that is guaranteed to make you smile. If you are visiting with children, this is undoubtedly the place where you will end up spending the most time.

Mars Animal City:A Journey from the Poles to Adorable Pets

Leaving the polar world behind, you now"land"in Mars Animal City.Home to the current"top-tier internet celebrity"—the Capybara—this area features creatures with distinct personalities:the Capybara, forever wearing a serene,"Zen-like"expression that offers maximum therapeutic comfort;the lively and active Otters, whose eyes are fixed solely on food;and the Raccoons, who seem to spend their entire days fast asleep. Here, visitors can enjoy close-up interactions with some of these gentle and adorable animals.

Polar Bear Experience Hall:The Largest Terrestrial Carnivore

This facility houses one of the world's largest artificial habitats for polar bears.Through massive acrylic viewing panels, you can observe these colossal bears frolicking in the water or strolling along the shore. When a bear approaches the glass, the sheer magnitude of its presence delivers a visceral sense of the Arctic ruler's majesty.

>Photography Tips:For the Beluga Whale Show,a wide-aperture lens is recommended. When photographing penguins, try crouching down to shoot at eye level to more easily capture their endearing expressions. The Jellyfish Exhibition Hall, with its shifting lighting effects, serves as an excellent spot for capturing atmospheric shots and striking silhouettes.

Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

Our 2-day Zhangjiajie tour was beyond spectacular! As someone who’s visited Beijing and Shanghai for work, this trip revealed China’s wild, magical heart. Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal! The night views of stilt houses glowing over the river were straight from a fairy tale. For fellow Avatar lovers and adventure seekers: Don’t miss this bucket-list experience! 10/10 would return.
