Xi'an Zoo Unveils: Animals' Hidden Social Circles

I am always looking for unique experiences, recently I had the pleasure of visiting Xi'an Qinling Wildlife Park. Located in the heart of China's ancient capital, this zoo is not just a place to see animals; it's a gateway to discovering their hidden social lives and enjoying a day filled with adventure and education.

1. Morning Adventure: Exploring the Wild Side

My day began early, as I arrived at the zoo just after its opening at 8:30 AM. I decided to start with the Savannah Zone, where I could see giraffes, zebras, and antelopes roaming freely. The zoo offers a feeding bus tour that allows visitors to get up close and personal with these magnificent creatures. For an extra fee, I purchased some food and fed a giraffe, which was an unforgettable experience. The tour took about 45 minutes, and by 10:15 AM, I was ready to move on to the next zone.

2. Mid-Morning Fun: Meeting the Predators

Next, I headed to the Predator Zone, where lions, tigers, and bears (oh my!) were waiting. The zoo has a special predator feeding show that takes place a few times a day, and I was lucky enough to catch the 11:00 AM session. Watching the tigers pounce on their food and the lions roar in anticipation was both thrilling and educational. This show lasted about 30 minutes, and by 11:30 AM, I was ready for a break.

3. Lunch Break: Tasting Local Flavors

The zoo has several dining options, but I decided to try the Swan Lake Restaurant, which offers a variety of local dishes. I ordered a plate of Roujiamo (Chinese hamburger) and a cup of Liangpi (cold noodles), which were both delicious and filling. The meal cost around 30 yuan, and by 12:30 PM, I was ready to continue my adventure.

4. Afternoon Delight: Discovering the Hidden Social Circles

After lunch, I ventured into the Walking Zone, where I could see a variety of animals, including pandas, golden monkeys, and red pandas. What really fascinated me was the "hidden social circles" of these animals. For example, the golden monkeys have a complex hierarchy, and watching them interact with each other was like watching a soap opera unfold. The zoo also has a "cloud adoption" program, where visitors can symbolically adopt an animal and receive updates on its well-being. This program supports the zoo's conservation efforts and allows visitors to feel a deeper connection with the animals.

5. Evening Entertainment: Enjoying the Night Show

As the day drew to a close, I decided to catch the evening light show at the zoo's Buddha's Light Avenue. The show features colorful lights, lanterns, and traditional music, creating a magical atmosphere. I spent about 45 minutes enjoying the show, taking photos, and soaking in the festive vibe. By 7:30 PM, I was ready to head back to my hotel, but not before purchasing a few souvenirs, including a panda plush toy and a set of animal-themed postcards.

Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

As a solo traveler from Canada, I was nervous about navigating China alone—but this 11-day tour was PERFECT! From hiking the Great Wall at sunrise (Day 3) to gasping at the Terracotta Army (Day 5), every day delivered ‘pinch-me’ moments. The real showstopper? Zhangjiajie’s Avatar Mountains (Day 7)! Our guide made the stone pillars come alive with stories. Massive thanks for handling all logistics—bullet train tickets, entry passes, car! And the 4-star hotels surprised me.

Our 2-day Zhangjiajie tour was beyond spectacular! As someone who’s visited Beijing and Shanghai for work, this trip revealed China’s wild, magical heart. Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal! The night views of stilt houses glowing over the river were straight from a fairy tale. For fellow Avatar lovers and adventure seekers: Don’t miss this bucket-list experience! 10/10 would return.
