1. The historical origins of Xishiku Catholic Church

In this historic city of Beijing, in addition to the famous Temple of Heaven, there is also a Catholic church with profound cultural heritage - Xishiku Catholic Church. This church, formerly known as the Savior Church or the North Church, is located at 33 Xishiku Street, Xicheng District, Beijing. It was built in the 42nd year of the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1703), originally located west of Ziguangge on the west coast of Zhonghai. Due to its location at the mouth of Canchikou, it is commonly known as the Canchikou Church. In the 13th year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty (1887), the church was relocated to its current location in Xishiku and reopened in 1985.

2. The unique charm of Gothic architecture

The Xishiku Catholic Church is a typical Gothic building, with its main structure being a three story Gothic building consisting of 11 spires at the top. The building has a cross shaped floor plan. The interior decoration of the church is magnificent, and the towering dome is particularly spectacular supported by several ribbed arches. The perfect use of colored glass adds a touch of sacred beauty and magical power to the church. Each glass colored painting tells the story of the Bible, including unique designs that incorporate Chinese elements such as The Temple of Heaven.

There are two Chinese style architectural pavilions on both sides of the exterior of the church. Inside the pavilions, there are the imperial edict for the relocation of the Catholic Church in the 14th year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty (1889) and the stele for the main hall of the Manchu and Han dynasties. Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

Our 2-day Zhangjiajie tour was beyond spectacular! As someone who’s visited Beijing and Shanghai for work, this trip revealed China’s wild, magical heart. Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal! The night views of stilt houses glowing over the river were straight from a fairy tale. For fellow Avatar lovers and adventure seekers: Don’t miss this bucket-list experience! 10/10 would return.
