Chen Clan Academy--Sacred Heart Cathedral--Shamian Island--Yongqing Fang

4+ stars Hotels

Breakfast & Lunch

After breakfast, we will begin our journey at the Chen Clan Academy, a masterpiece of traditional Lingnan architecture. With intricate wood carvings, stone sculptures, and elaborate roof decorations, this ancestral hall reflects the essence of southern Chinese culture and artistry.

Next, we head to the Sacred Heart Cathedral, one of the few all-granite Gothic churches in the world. Often referred to as the "Notre-Dame of the East," it stands as a striking contrast to the modern cityscape around it.

We continue to Shamian Island, once a foreign concession during the 19th century. Walking along the tree-lined avenues, you’ll see European-style buildings, quaint cafes, and remnants of colonial life. It's a great place to take a break and enjoy a coffee with a river view.

In the afternoon, we explore Yongqing Fang, a revitalized old neighborhood that blends heritage with creativity. Here, you can stroll through narrow alleys lined with shophouses, taste local snacks, and if time permits, join a short craft workshop such as calligraphy or clay figurine making. This area is also ideal for picking up handmade souvenirs.

Evening Option:
You may choose to stay longer in Yongqing Fang or attend a Cantonese opera or folk performance at a nearby cultural center. These traditional shows offer insight into the music, storytelling, and aesthetics of old Guangzhou.

4+ stars Hotels

Breakfast & Lunch

We start the day with a visit to the iconic Canton Tower, one of the tallest towers in the world. From the observation deck, enjoy breathtaking views of the Pearl River, Haixinsha Park, and the sprawling cityscape.

Next, we walk to Haixinsha Park, an open urban space once used for the 2010 Asian Games. It's perfect for photos with the skyline, bridges, and waterfront as your backdrop.

Then we delve into ancient history at the Nanyue King Mausoleum, a 2,000-year-old royal tomb of Zhao Mo, the second king of the Nanyue Kingdom. The museum displays remarkable artifacts, including a jade burial suit and treasures from the Western Han Dynasty.

In the early evening, we will head to the dock for a Pearl River Night Cruise. As the boat glides through the illuminated city, enjoy spectacular views of Canton Tower, Liede Bridge, and the riverside skyline. The reflections on the water create a magical atmosphere—an unforgettable way to end your Guangzhou journey.

Evening Option:
For those interested in photography, this cruise offers excellent opportunities to capture Guangzhou's most iconic night scenes. You may also choose to enjoy a traditional Cantonese dinner before or after the cruise, sampling dishes like roast goose, steamed rice rolls, and double-boiled soup at a local restaurant.

Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

As a solo traveler from Canada, I was nervous about navigating China alone—but this 11-day tour was PERFECT! From hiking the Great Wall at sunrise (Day 3) to gasping at the Terracotta Army (Day 5), every day delivered ‘pinch-me’ moments. The real showstopper? Zhangjiajie’s Avatar Mountains (Day 7)! Our guide made the stone pillars come alive with stories. Massive thanks for handling all logistics—bullet train tickets, entry passes, car! And the 4-star hotels surprised me.

Our 2-day Zhangjiajie tour was beyond spectacular! As someone who’s visited Beijing and Shanghai for work, this trip revealed China’s wild, magical heart. Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal! The night views of stilt houses glowing over the river were straight from a fairy tale. For fellow Avatar lovers and adventure seekers: Don’t miss this bucket-list experience! 10/10 would return.
